Applications

APPLICATIONS WHERE NTM SenseH2® EXCELS:

Hydrogen Booster for Diesel and other IC Engines

Hydrogen can be added to the intake in an internal combustion engine to facilitate efficient hydrocarbon burn and to reduce emissions.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor is a key component for ensuring a safe process.

The sensor can be positioned to detect unsafe hydrogen levels and react with an output signal to turn on a separate ventilation system, to shut off the source of hydrogen, or to activate alarms.

Monitoring Hydrogen Windage in Power Plants

Hydrogen is used to efficiently cool generators in power plants around the world.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor has been designed to monitor the surrounding area for any hydrogen leaks and subsequent build up.

The NTM SenseH2® sensor can be connected to a ventilation system or air lowers so that when the hydrogen concentration reaches a certain level, the atmosphere can be diluted with air to protect equipment and ensure a safe working environment.

Fossil Fuel Oil Refining

Hydrogen is generated and used to refine heavy oil to light oil.

During the process, unsafe conditions could result, if hydrogen escapes within an enclosure.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor can detect leaks and provide a signal for the system to actuate an alarm or ventilation.

Fuel Cell or Battery Back Up (UPS) Power System

To ensure a safe and dependable backup power system, it is prudent to monitor for either hydrogen leaks in the fuel cell back up system or hydrogen outgassing from the lead acid battery backup system.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor can be mounted in the hydrogen fuel cell system, hydrogen storage enclosure, and in the battery cabinet or room.

When H2 levels elevate to a predetermined threshold, the hydrogen sensor can send a signal to turn on ventilation, turn off the source of hydrogen, or activate an alarm.

Hydrogen Refueling and Generation Stations

For hydrogen refueling and generation stations, hydrogen safety requires hydrogen leak and build up detection in systems, enclosures, buildings and compartments.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor has been developed to be cost effective, highly selective to hydrogen, and have quick response and recovery times.

The NTM SenseH2® hydrogen sensor has been incorporated by hydrogen generation equipment manufacturers into their systems.

Lead Acid and Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) Battery Cabinet

Both lead acid and nickel cadmium (NiCad) batteries generate hydrogen due to water decomposition.

The NTM SenseH2® can be used to monitor the battery cabinet/housing and trigger a ventilation process. Providing adequate ventilation extends the life of the batteries. In addition, continuous hydrogen level monitoring can prevent catastrophic loss due to explosion.

Hydrogen Offgassing from Nuclear Waste

Hydrogen is outgassed during the nuclear waste reforming process.

Throughout this process, it is necessary to monitor for hydrogen levels.

The NTM SenseH2® is suited for installation in these applications because it is very selective to hydrogen gas.

The NTM SenseH2® sensor can be connected to a ventilation system and alarms to activate these system devices when the hydrogen concentration reaches a predetermined level.
